Description |
Pacific Gas &
Electric Co.
San Francisco, CA |
Designed
cathodic protection systems for over 100 miles
of steel pipelines ranging in size from 6”
diameter to 36” diameter at various power
plants including Moss Landing Power Plant, Morro
Bay Power Plant, Humbolt Bay Power Plant, Diablo
Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, Petrero Hill Power
Plant, Hunters Point Power Plant, Contra Costa
Power Plant and Pittsburg Power Plant. |
Da Hong Shan Iron Ore
Concentrate Pipeline
China |
Conducted
an in-situ soil resistivity survey in China and
prepared a cathodic protection system design criteria
for 204 km of slurry pipeline. Project consisted
of measuring in-situ soil resistivities at a spacing
of 1-2 km using the Wenner 4-pin technique and
using Barnes Layer Calculations to determine the
corrosivity of the soils at pipe depth. Design
criteria for cathodic protection was developed
and engineering cost estimates were provided as
part of a feasibility study. |
Contra Costa Water
District
Concord, CA |
Cathodic
protection design for 50 miles of large diameter
steel pipeline. Services included conducting the
soil resistivity survey, performing all design
calculations, installation drawings and technical
specifications. Also, included were inspection
services during construction and final system
checkout and adjustment. |
Antamina Compania Minera
Zinc/Copper Slurry Pipeline
Peru |
Designed a cathodic protection
system for an 8” diameter, 302 km long slurry
pipeline. This pipeline travels from the Andes
Mountains to the ocean and ranges in elevation
from 5,000 meters to sealevel. Cathodic protection
for this pipeline utilized both AC powered rectifiers
and DC powerd solar systems in remote locations.
Telluric line currents were encountered on this
pipeline resulting in extensive testing and monitoring
of pipeline potentials in order to adjust the
cathodic protection system adequately. |
Central California
Water
Agency
Santa Maria, CA |
Cathodic
protection design for 80 miles of 36” diameter
steel pipeline. Services included conducting the
soil resistivity survey, performing all design
calculations, installation drawings and technical
specifications. Also, included was inspection
services during construction and final system
checkout and adjustment. |
Kinnecott Mine
Salt Lake City, Utah |
Conducted
a corrosion evaluation of the tailings pond site
and prepared the performance specification and
pre-design project estimate for a cathodic protection
system for the discharge pipelines around the
tailing pond. Services included the preparation
of the design criteria, current requirement calculations,
engineering estimate and cathodic protection system
performance specification. |
Duke Energy North
America
Moss Landing Power Plant
Moss Landing, CA
|
Designed
cathodic protection system for 84” –
120” diameter intake cooling water pipelines
as well as for the trash racks, traveling screens,
salt water intake pumps, condenser water boxes
and discharge pipeline for Generating Units 1
& 2. Cathodic protection design included both
galvanic systems as well as various types of impressed
current systems using both conventional high-silicon
cast iron anodes and mixed-metal oxide coated
titanium anodes. |
Tintaya Tailings Project
BHP Tintaya
Peru |
Designed
cathodic protection for 10.7 km long 16”
diameter tailings pipeline. Cathodic protection
system consisted of an impressed current system
utilizing a shallow distributed anode bed. Our
firm was responsible for developing the design
criteria and preparing the design drawings and
technical specifications along with engineering
cost estimates for materials and construction.
We provided technical support during installation
also. |
