Description |
| Dow Chemical Company
Pittsburg, CA |
Conducted
inspection, integrity assessment and material
compatibility studies for over 50 hazardous waste
storage tanks. The project included ultrasonic
thickness measurements and structural calculations
as well as chemical analysis of contents for compatibility
studies |
Dupont Company,
Antioch, CA |
Conducted
an R&D project to determine the compatibility
of a special aggregate material. The aggregate
was found corrosive to several construction materials
due to high chloride levels. |
United Technologies,
San Jose, CA |
Conducted
corrosion review of design and material selection
for a new Ammonium Perchlorate facility. Several
material changes were made as a result, due to
highly explosive and corrosive nature of the material. |
New United Motors,
Fremont, CA |
Conducted
corrosion investigations for submersible pumps
and motors at a paint facility. It was determined
that the severe corrosion was due to stray current.
An impressed current system was recommended to
resolve the problem. |
| City of Marina,
CA |
Conducted
failure analysis and material selection of stainless
steel intake pumps for a desalination plant. As
a result the pumps were replaced with less expensive
epoxy coated carbon steel with CP. The pumps have
performed very well since then. |
Standard Pacific,
Danville, CA |
Conducted
investigations for copper pipe corrosion in a
large housing development. This was a major research
project including litigation support, which lasted
for two years. |
Hewlett Packard,
Palo Alto, CA
|
Conducted
failure analysis and material selection of stainless
steel remediation pumps. It was determined that
the material was not according to specifications.
In addition the bushings were changed to 17-4
PH grade |
United Airlines,
San Francisco, CA |
Conducted
inspection, integrity assessment and material
compatibility studies for several hazardous waste
storage tanks. The project included ultrasonic
thickness measurements and structural calculations
as well as chemical analysis of contents for compatibility
studies. |
Stanford University,
Stanford, CA |
Conducted
corrosion investigation of steam lines. Severe
corrosion was found under thermal insulation.
Recommendations were provided for coating under
the insulation. |
Campbell Soup Company,
Sacramento, CA |
Conducted
corrosion investigations of carbon steel cooker
chains. Coupons were installed at various parts
of the large structure. The source of corrosion
was determined to be galvanic corrosion resulting
from the stainless steel trays. Also, corrosion
of soup cans was investigated and it was found
that the chlorine being used for bacteria control
caused the corrosion problem. Several recommendations
were made to mitigate the problem. |
